Iowa Hawkeyes star Caitlin Clark is zeroing in on a women’s basketball milestone, but she’s also making time to watch her favorite team in the NFL playoffs this year: the Kansas City Chiefs.

Clark celebrated the Chiefs‘ AFC Championship Game win over the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday by reposting an Instagram post shared by the team’s official account — making it crystal-clear which side she will be supporting in Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas on Feb. 11.

Clark’s Chiefs fandom

Clark’s love for the Chiefs runs deeper than reposting their latest achievement to Instagram Stories. She has long been a huge Kansas City fan, a passion shared by many of her family members back home in Des Moines, IA.

Clark attended the Chiefs’ Christmas Day loss to the Las Vegas Raiders this season, and in November, she told Eli and Peyton Manning during a “Monday Night Football” broadcast that from a young age, she would join her family and make a pilgrimage from Des Moines to Kansas City each year to watch a Chiefs game at Arrowhead Stadium.

Clark’s arrival as a major force in college basketball has coincided with the greatest era in Chiefs history. Led by Travis Kelce, Patrick Mahomes, and Andy Reid, the Chiefs have made four Super Bowl appearances in the past five seasons. This year, Clark’s Hawkeyes play the Nebraska Cornhuskers on Super Bowl Sunday, but you can bet the 22-year-old will be anxiously updates as her team fights to lift the Vince Lombardi Trophy in consecutive campaigns.

Clark closing in on history

Clark and the third-ranked Hawkeyes are hoping to make it back-to-back wins on Wednesday when they visit the Northwestern Wildcats at Welsh-Ryan Arena, where a victory would bring Iowa‘s record to 20-2 this season — and, in all likelihood, move Clark even closer to the all-time points scored record in women’s college basketball.

Clark has scored 3,389 points across her four seasons at Iowa and is 139 points away from breaking Kelsey Plum’s record for the most points scored in a collegiate career. Clark is averaging 32 points per game this season — and at the rate, she will surpass Plum on Feb. 15, when the Hawkeyes host the Michigan Wolverines.
